2017 pumpkin growing season over?

Due to the heavy rains and extensive flooding in our area, it looks like the pumpkin crop of 2017 has bit the dust. Don't know if these plants can survive as I've never had experienced anything like this, but it does not look good. Looks like I'll be buying Jacks this fall!

  1. Wow! They're like pumpkin waterlilies! Sorry if they don't work out, but who knows. They might grow. Pumpkin plants are super resilient. The floods have been pretty bad in southern Wisconsin. I saw on the news tonight that Kenosha/Racine is still trying to recover. So many flooded basements and businesses. I guess you're in the northern part of Illinois, right? You might be fairly near the damage I saw in Wisconsin.

I was wondering if the floods had done much to the Renaissance Faire grounds. It looks like things are OK from the pics on their Twitter page.

Good luck with the pumpkins! Hope the flood didn't leave you with too much cleanup.

    1. Yes its quite a mess around here, although we were lucky and had no water in the home. I think the Faire looks good- drove by it 4 times in the last couple of weekends and it was packed so thats good!
