Well, 2016 has been a pretty good year weather wise and the patch seems to be flourishing as a result.
Although there are no female flowers (or pumpkins) yet, Im optimistic that we will get a few this season. New soil put in this year as well as a bit of fertilizer seems to agree with them.
Fingers crossed- no sign of the dreaded vine boarer yet. With the 4th of July in the rearview mirror, its time to start thinking autumn thoughts......
That close to an open field, how do you keep the rabbits and animals from eating the gourds?
ReplyDeleteCritters pretty much leave the pumpkins alone Mark, although the one year that I planted corn for the stalks, once the ears came out, the masked bandit raccoons tore all the stalks down! That was the end of that-but they left the pumpkins alone.
DeleteWow - that's one big pumpkin vine. I hope you get some beauties.
ReplyDeleteLooking great, good October boy...!!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, I'm loving your blog, & super excited to see your still posting! I JUST found your blog thru Pinterest(orange grungey glow hanging jars), & love your blog, love Halloween, and love Halloween bloggers, you guys never mind telling what you did, & answer straight forward (well, the ones I have found, anyway)& don't leave the reader to just take a guess at how to do something! I've learned so many tricks I can apply to my own fav crafts to make, which is Primitive decor, lol! It's not that far off from Halloween, and not only that, Halloween is my Fav fav time of yr. I start getting ready now, & decorate Sept 1st! Only downfall, tho, is it feels like it takes soooo long for Halloween to actually arrive! Lol! Thanks for sharing all u do! And can't wait to see what 2016 brings!
