Sleepy Hollow/ Salem trip

Got back last week from a marathon fall travel adventure.
First off was Sleepy Hollow

Love the scarecrow that greets you downtown
(although it looks like a Pumpkinrot copy)

From the Pumpkin Blaze in Croton on the Hudson
Really amazing display

On to Salem..
"The Witch House" while on a lantern ghost tour

The whole town is just Halloween bliss

after 2000 miles of driving, it was then on to our
annual haunted camping trip

Then finally back home to decorate.
Got the Deadwood Cemetery set up yesterday
But, like clock work, the gale force winds are
whipping through today taking a toll on the props!

Halloween hot sauce from the Undertaker!

Received my shipment from Victor "The Undertaker" Ives at Halloween Hot Sauce yesterday and let me tell you, this is no novelty hot sauce....Ahem, Target.
(See Pumpkinrots blog for the rip off Target did on Victors stuff)

Hand made goodness, clever packing and the coolest Halloween graphics, as well as the personal details make this a must purchase! So well done.

'Lil R.I.P" makes a comeback

After last years downpour and winds, our pumpkin creeper 'Lil RIP' bit the dust and fell apart with age and wear. After some consideration of offering him up to the Halloween bonfire Gods I decided that I would try and rebuild. So after much reinforcing and adding more branches and vines, he walks among us again better than the original. Glad of my decision to bring him back.

old school pennant banner

I decided this year I would like to try and make something to give our front porch more of an "old school" halloween look. After seeing a couple of pennant banners online, I thought I would make my own since it needed to span about 14 feet across the front porch. Just found some vintage type artwork and got to painting. Pretty happy with the way it turned out and should look nice hanging above the cornstalks.

Pumpkin 2016 update

Well, here we are nearing the end of August and thought I would give a quick patch update.
As you can see the vines have grown completely out of control, but its kind of cool that way. I have thinned them a bit since to help with the growth. As of today we have 7 good size pumpkins and i am thinking that at this point, thats all we are going to get. Not that I am complaining, this years attempt was a success in my book, even have a couple over 25 lbs.

Pumpkin patch 2016

Well, 2016 has been a pretty good year weather wise and the patch seems to be flourishing as a result.
Although there are no female flowers (or pumpkins) yet, Im optimistic that we will get a few this season. New soil put in this year as well as a bit of fertilizer seems to agree with them.
Fingers crossed- no sign of the dreaded vine boarer yet. With the 4th of July in the rearview mirror, its time to start thinking autumn thoughts......
